Work from Home as an Online Travel Agent

Travel industry has been a mystery for many people. Travel agents share the same attributes of their jobs as real estate agents. You can be a travel agent or a home based freelance travel agent, or you can also start travel agent work after your retirement. For a number of people, this is a full time job, while others enjoy it doing as a part-time work. Travel industry is an ever growing industry. If you are looking for a home based work then you can start working as a free home based travel agent. Just by learning few things you will be become able to work as an independent travel agent and earn a good amount of money.

Responsibilities of a Travel Agent

The responsibilities of a travel agent include the booking of travel customers. A travel agent provides information about the available travel options to the customers and makes booking for them with their suppliers. In return to this suppliers pay them a commission based on the number of booking they have made. A travel agent is free to change their suppliers if they see existing supplier not paying them commission. A travel agent is also independent of changing their client service fee for the time which they are giving to their work.

Amount of Commission a Travel Agent Gets

Many hotels pay 10% of the cost of the hotel excluding taxes and fees. If you book your hotel a customer with a $100 per night then you will get $10 on that reservation. In some cases, travel agents can get paid a better price of performing the same work. Booking through an online travel agent doesn’t cost a lot to the customer unless the travel agent charges for the services.

Who Can Do This Job?

Anyone who has set up an account with travel agents can do this job. Many suppliers require their agents to have an IATAN, CLIA or ARC number. IATAN sits for International Airlines Travel Agent Networking. CLIA sits for Cruise Lines International Association. ARC sits for Airline Reporting Corporation.  Memberships for all these companies require certain things such as sales, money in the bank, training in the relevant industry or experience, and membership fee. Most require the Errors and Omissions insurance of $1,000,000 or above.  However, an average travel agent, membership is exceptional, as they can work with some organizations as an independent agent. It is advantageous to work with a travel agency. That is because most of them many of these are unable to make sufficient sales with a specific supplier in order to gain high commission levels and bonuses.

There are more chances to get increased commission percentages when you work with many travel agencies. You also get a consistent support from your agency and it holds importance.

Scope of a travel agent

Travel industry is an ever changing industry. These changes sometimes bring good news for its workers, while sometimes bad news. According to recent changes that have been made, airlines have cut the commissions for their travel agents. Nevertheless, there are still many other suppliers who are paying good amount to their agents. In past, cruises were booked only by the rich people, but this trend has changed now and people belong to all income can book them. Every year more and more people book cruises.

On which services you can earn commission?

Following are the services on which you earn good commissions:

  • Hotel reservations

  • Rental cars

  • Tour packages

  • Cruises

  • Some airline flights

  • International airline tickets

  • Travel insurance

  • Ground transportation

  • Attraction tickets

  • Train tickets reservation

People always need travel agents to make their travel booking practices easier. Selling travel services is not a tough job because people need to travel from one place to another with varying reasons.

How to get into travel industry?

Most people think that they need to have any special training to start their career in travel industry. In reality, truth is quite different from it. You can step into this industry anytime and after getting in start training. Training doesn’t take a lot of time. You can join training courses offered by organizations like ICTA; CLIA etc. working with suppliers is also the best practice to learn this work.

Some of the opportunities regarding the long term have been illustrated above, but they are just few. There are uncountable opportunities and ways which you can go for in order to have such kind of traveling. All you need is to do a little research and discover for the opportunities. Find the best and suitable places. But keep this thing also in your mind that you must be very careful regarding the work and services you do for the strangers and host. You need to adopt some extra precautionary measures for your own safety; otherwise it is a great risk not only to you but also to your life. Always work with a genuine company and once you get to do some work, be sincere and try to be professional.

There is a vast variety of the services and jobs offer, the most important thing that you must keep in mind while deciding for a particular one is your ability. If you are not able to do and perform a particular task which you are choosing, the whole effort gets useless. So be careful regarding the choice of the work as well along with other factors. .
People generally choose to work but later they find themselves in certain disputes like they don’t feel good living at a particular place for some one, especially if the time period is too long. So once you start working, be very professional. This is also a part of the long-term travel.

Catacombs of Kom el Shoqafa

Catacombs of Kom el Shoqafa is located in Alexandria, Egypt.

Alexandria was having different blends of culture in the late first century. It was having Roman and Greek traditions and Christianity was also flourishing despite from all that changes in culture ancient Egypt’s great kingdoms were still not forgotten. This place was having unique impact that people combine their talents rather than destroying cultures.

The evocative reminders of a culture that existed 1,900 years: Catacombs of Kom el Shoqafa, “ Mounds of Shards”. Three levels burrow into the ground its carved out of solid rock near the sites of the ancient stadium and the long vanished temple of Serapis, a Greek and Egyptian god. Many such catacombs once filigreed Alexandria’s underground but earthquakes and construction projects destroyed them.

Kom el Shoqafa was not find out by any human that’s interesting also in 1900 when it was re discovered after centuries that was by a donkey which accidentally fell through a hole in the ground, and that time it was seen the animal had made an extraordinary archeological find.

Kom el Shoqafa was an active burial site in the late second century. There is ancient circular staircase leads down into the catacombs. The bodies were lowered by rope down the well formed by the spiraling stairs. At the end of the staircase there are two benches are carved into wall inches overhead by the cockleshell motif found in classical designs.

A circular building through a six-pillared central shaft opens off the vestibule. On the left there is triclinium, that’s the funeral banquet hall where friends and family gather on stone couches covered with cushions. It is believed by the scholars that the catacombs at 1st may be were only for one family but latterly they were expanded into a mass burial site, and its assumed that was administrated by a corporation with dues paying members.

Down through staircase to second level there is an area eerily alive with sculpture. In the lobby of the building two pillars are topped by the papyrus, lotus, and acanthus leaves of ancient Egypt, two falcons flanking a winged sun decorate the frieze. In the walls there are carved figures of man and a woman probably can be figures of the tomb’s original occupants. The man’s body in figure is having stiff hieratic pose as its found in ancient Egyptian sculpture while his head is in the lifelike manner of the classic Hellenes and the woman’s figure is also rigid but it sports the Roman hairstyle.

Three huge stone coffins with non-removable covers along the sides of the chamber. It’s assumed that bodies were inserted in them from behind using a passageway that runs around the outside of the funeral chamber. There is a hallway with 91 wall inches in the central tomb chamber and each one providing burial space for three mummies.

The visitors can reach the first level through a breach in the rotunda wall that way probably was not used by the original builders. This way leads to the Hall of Caracalla, in this hall the bones of horses and humans were found. The hall name is on the name of Emperor Caracalla who massacred the Alexandrian youth in 215 AD.

El Camino del Rey

El Camino del Rey is a very dangerous walkway that goes along the steep walls of a narrow gorge known as El Chorro.

Location of El Chorro

The El Chorro gorge is located in Spain near Alora, a village close to Malaga. It’s very close to the Mediterranean Sea.

El Chorro is a limestone gorge in Andalusia through that passes the Guadalhorce River. In 1921 Dam was made on this river forming three reservoirs, which are having thick pine forests on the sides. Makinodromo is having rivers, lakes, canyons and full of trees, this area is well known in Europe for rock climbing and its also popular for mountain biking, hiking and camping.

Next to El Chorro gorge there is a 700 meters high Desfiladero de los Gaitanes Pass and on the side of this high mountain there is a walkway. This path is famous as a very dangerous path called El Camino del Rey (The King’s little path).

This path was constructed in 1901 and it got its name because Alfonso XIII of Spain officially opened the path.

People are traversing this path from many years but now this path is in poor condition due to lack of repairs. In 2000 a tourist had died trying to cross it. But that accident hasn’t affected many people. El Camino del Rey is still a popular climb even today.

Description

The Camino del Rey is a path constructed on the gorge wall. This unusual walkway is hundred meters above the canyon base and travels the full length of the gorge.

Currently the walkway is no longer in best shape because different sections of concrete are broken away. Still the walking the full length on it is possible. It is said that the walkway was built so that the king can observe the engineering work taking place in the gorge. But now this walkway instead of Royalty gets the climbers.

This walkway is only 3 feet wide and its held to the mountainside by pins driven into the stone. 700 feet below the river is flowing.

On purpose of its building was to allow local workers the ability cross between two nearby waterfalls, Chorro Falls and Gaitanejo Falls and it was serving as a shortcut to workers so that they wont have to climb down the mountain on one side and climb back up on the other.  But now this walk is in status of serious disrepair many parts of this walkway are completely collapsed leaving nothing but a metal beam and a wire. So if you got chance to walk on that then that’s best for you to never look down.

Though there is a great danger and risk but that doesn’t seem to stop people from climbing it. This walkway is still serving as short cut to Makinodromo the famous climbing sector of El Chorro. A century ago this walkway was a shortcut and its still serving as a short cut several people risk their lives on a daily basis to climb on that though is illegal.

Underwater River In Mexico

If you think that nature have limits about its wonders then in my view that will be a false thought. Still there are so many sights and wonders, which are waiting for any discovery by humans.

Beauty lies in the eyes of beholder well that’s correct. There are so many beautiful and amazing places on planet earth that we can’t see all of them in single sight. Beautiful beaches, islands, valleys and oceans always attract humans.

Thousands of people who love diving around the world they would never seen such beauty underwater that I am going to mention, yes if you are a professional diver then you should visit Cenote Angelita, Mexico.

In picture you can see underwater river. This place is Cenote Angelita, Mexico. When you go deeper than 30 meters the water is fresh, deeper than 60 meters its salty, there under beneath you can see a river with trees and leaves.

Though its not a real river but it looks like river. In fact that’s only a layer of hydrogen sulphide. But to be honest this is really amazing.
